Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has popped up on the PEGI (Pan European Game Information) website with a "pre-release date" of 30th May, 2026 — hinting that Bandai Namco's long-awaited aerial combat sequel could arrive much sooner than anticipated.
The Leak
The PEGI listing awards the game a 16 rating for violence and in-game purchases, but unusually provides no consumer advice, outline of the game, or content-specific issues. What PEGI means by "pre-release dates" is unclear — not least because it's now June 2nd and there's been no shadow-drop release just yet.
However, the listing does intimate that we could be playing Ace Combat 8 sooner rather than later. Many suspect the game will get a formal release date reveal at Summer Game Fest or Sony's State of Play presentation in the coming weeks.
About the Game
Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve was announced during The Game Awards 2025 and is targeting PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It's been seven years since Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, and this next entry is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 for the first time in the series' history. Bandai Namco is promising an "emotionally charged" campaign alongside multiplayer modes.
Up until now, publisher Bandai Namco had only committed to a vague "2026" release window, making this PEGI leak the strongest indication yet of a concrete launch timeline.
Community Response
The Ace Combat community has reacted with excitement on Reddit's r/acecombat and social media, with fans analyzing the "Wings of Theve" subtitle — which appears to reference the mythological Theve, adding to the series' tradition of blending real-world aviation with fictional narratives.
