New details about CD Projekt Red's mystery new IP — codenamed Hadar — have emerged, confirming that the project will be another open-world game in the tradition of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.

A job advertisement for an engineering director for Hadar on CD Projekt Red's open positions page describes the project as: "In this position, together with the rest of the team, you will help push the envelope for the next, immersive game in the Hadar world, creating an emotional, open-world experience that will stay with gamers."

What We Know About Hadar

Hadar was first announced as a new franchise codename years ago, but it wasn't until March 2026 that the studio said it had "established the foundations" of what the project will actually be. Little has been officially revealed about its setting or gameplay beyond the open-world descriptor.

The revelation places Hadar alongside CD Projekt Red's other major projects:

  • The Witcher 4 (Project Polaris) — in full production
  • Cyberpunk 2 (Project Orion) — in early development
  • Witcher 3 expansion — Songs of the Past, arriving in 2027
  • Hadar — a completely original new IP

Joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski said back in March that the team has been working on establishing the world and story of Hadar, moving it from pure concept phase into active development.

A Legacy of Open Worlds

CD Projekt Red is known for its deep, narrative-driven open worlds. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is widely regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of all time, while Cyberpunk 2077 — despite a troubled launch — has been rehabilitated through numerous updates and the acclaimed Phantom Liberty expansion into a beloved title with over 30 million copies sold.

The developer's signature approach combines rich storytelling with vast, reactive environments, suggesting Hadar will continue that tradition in an entirely new universe. No platforms or release window have been announced for the project.
