Saber Interactive is resurrecting the long-dormant Stuntman series with Stuntman: Hollywood, which is currently in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game marks the first new entry in the franchise since 2007's Stuntman: Ignition.
In a first for the series, Stuntman: Hollywood is being injected with real movies and TV shows thanks to a partnership with Universal Pictures. Present in the reveal trailer were segments based on Fast & Furious, Back to the Future, Knight Rider, Miami Vice, and 2008's Death Race.
The game will feature a range of cars from these films and shows, from Brian O'Conner's rides from The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious, to the armoured Mustang driven by Jason Statham's character in Death Race. The massive tanker truck from the latter — The Dreadnought — also makes an appearance.
Back From the Dead
The original Stuntman launched in 2002 for PlayStation 2, developed by Reflections Interactive (now Ubisoft Reflections). It tasked players with performing dangerous driving stunts for six over-the-top parody films, including an Austin Powers-style British spy spoof and a WWII adventure. It sold over a million copies and was a staple demo disc favourite.
A sequel followed in 2007 under THQ, developed by Paradigm Entertainment, but Stuntman: Ignition underperformed commercially. THQ announced it would not pursue any further instalments, and the series has been dormant ever since — nearly 19 years.
A release date for Stuntman: Hollywood has not been confirmed. The game is set to launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
