Hiro Mashima's legendary fantasy manga Fairy Tail is returning to serialization with new chapters in August 2026, as part of the franchise's 20th anniversary celebrations.
The short-term serialization will run in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, spanning combined Issues #36 and #37, scheduled for release on August 5, 2026. Mashima will write and illustrate a "short, intensive" story arc.
A Storied Legacy
Fairy Tail was originally serialized from 2006 to 2017, spanning 63 volumes and becoming one of the best-selling manga of all time with over 72 million copies worldwide. Set in a world of mage guilds, it follows Natsu Dragneel and his companions. The series spawned a hit anime adaptation, multiple films, and a sequel, Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest.

20th Anniversary Celebrations
Beyond the manga's return, the 20th anniversary includes a commemorative trailer, merchandise, events, and art exhibitions throughout 2026. The franchise also sparked a prequel, Fairy Tail Zero.
