Suri — the multi-talented vocaloid-piapro producer and vocalist of rising rock band Aooo — has announced a brand new collaboration single with veteran Osaka-born rock band KANA-BOON, titled "Chewing Gum" (チューインガム feat. KANA-BOON), set for digital release on June 9, 2026.

Osaka Roots Collide

The collaboration brings together two acts with shared Osaka origins. Suri, who gained fame through Vocaloid-piapro culture before forming Aooo, and KANA-BOON — the four-piece rock band consisting of Taniguchi Maguro (Vocals, Guitar), Endo Masami (Bass), Yokoi Takayuki (Guitar), and Seki Yuriko (Drums) — who won the "Kyun 20 Years Audition" in 2012 out of 4,000 entries and made their major debut in 2013 with the single "Seija no Rise, Okotowari."

This marks Suri's first-ever collaboration with a band on an original track. The song was co-written by Suri and KANA-BOON vocalist/guitarist Taniguchi Maguro, with arrangement credits shared between Suri and all four KANA-BOON members.

According to Natalie Music, the track has a playful, energetic feel befitting its title, blending Suri's pop-savvy melodic instincts with KANA-BOON's signature rock dynamism. A teaser video for the music video has been released on YouTube, showing glimpses of both acts in the studio.

Radio Premiere and Live Appearance

Before the digital release, "Chewing Gum feat. KANA-BOON" will receive its first radio airplay on June 8 via Osaka's FM802 program "ROCK KIDS 802 -OCHIKEN Goes ON!!-" (21:00–23:54 JST). Both Suri and Taniguchi Maguro will appear live in the studio for the premiere, making it a special broadcast for fans of both acts.

Community Reception

The collaboration has generated considerable excitement in the Japanese rock and J-Pop crossover space. Suri's recent trajectory — from Vocaloid producer to full-fledged rock frontman with Aooo, who recently announced their first-ever Nippon Budokan one-man live — has been one of the most closely watched rising-star narratives in Japanese independent rock. KANA-BOON, meanwhile, has been enjoying a creative resurgence with their newly solidified four-member lineup (Yokoi and Seki joined in January 2026).

On social media, fans expressed curiosity about how Suri's electronic/pop production style would mesh with KANA-BOON's guitar-driven alt-rock sound. The "Vocaloid-piapro producer meets veteran rock band" format has a strong track record in Japanese music (similar past crossovers include Yoneyama Kenshi x Sakanaction, and Yorushika collaborations), so expectations are high.
