Singer-songwriter TOMOO has written a new song titled "Otona ni Nattara" (大人になったら, "When I Grow Up") as the theme for the 33rd installment of the long-running Crayon Shin-chan film series, "Crayon Shin-chan: Mysterious! My Monster Vacation" (映画クレヨンしんちゃん 奇々怪々!オラの妖怪バケ~ション), set to release on July 31, 2026. The announcement was accompanied by a newly released poster visual and teaser trailer featuring a snippet of the song.
About the Film
The 2026 Crayon Shin-chan movie follows the Nohara family as they return to Hiroshi's hometown to enjoy the Omagari Fireworks Festival — a beloved summer tradition in Akita Prefecture. However, the family soon finds themselves lost in a mysterious world of yokai (妖怪, supernatural spirits), embarking on an unpredictable adventure in a bizarre and whimsical realm. The film features guest voice actors including Ito Sairi, Mayurika, Kaji Yuki, Endo Aya, Shimono Hiro, Minase Inori, and Komatsu Mikako.
TOMOO's Connection to Shin-chan
TOMOO, born in 1995 in Tokyo, is a singer-songwriter who began playing piano at age six. After gaining attention with her 2021 single "Ginger," she made her major-label debut in 2022 under Pony Canyon's IRORI Records. Her career reached a major milestone in May 2025 with a sold-out one-man show at Nippon Budokan, followed by her second album "DEAR MYSTERIES" in November 2025.
Speaking about her connection to the beloved anime series, TOMOO shared:
"Crayon Shin-chan is a series I loved watching every week on TV as a child. I remember my mother telling me that my younger brother and I would often fight, but as soon as Shin-chan started, we would sit together in front of the TV laughing. So when I received the offer to write the theme song for this film, I was truly surprised and overjoyed."
Artist Comment on the Song
Regarding the new composition, TOMOO explained how the film shaped the song's direction:
"The film conveyed so much about cherishing things unseen and hidden — feelings that resonate deeply with what I personally value. The theme song 'Otona ni Nattara' was shaped by the film's story, landscapes, and the characters' words. It brought to life a feeling I've long held somewhere inside — the desire to believe in exciting feelings, nostalgia, and the precious connections and memories that exist even when we can't see them."
The song appears in the film's teaser trailer, which has been released on YouTube, offering a preview of the gentle, nostalgic tone TOMOO brings to the summer blockbuster.
